Fury's first show appearance was when he was sold at a UMH World Show auction as a weanling. Derick knew a good colt when he saw one, and he thought this was a great one. Derick has been quoted, "Fury is the strongest gaited horse I have ever ridden. After you step up out of a walk you do nothing but gait until he runs." Now, that is a strong gait! Judy saw him for the first time at Van Bert's in the spring of 2006 and was fascinated by how smooth his gait was, even when Derick would "fly" on him. The first time Judy rode Fury, she got what was soon known as "the Fury grin". Everyone else who rides him, gets the same smile on their face. |

In 2006, Fury gained a reputation as a consistent, flashy 3 yr. old classic stallion competitor, whether shown by an amateur or a professional. His talents were recognized on the UMH show circuit, at the 2006 UMH World Show, and at the RMHA International Show. His sire is Chocolate Venture (one of the best show horses ever, an RMHA International Conformation Grand Champion, and a producer of top winners today). His mother is Calypso Magic, a Barlow Chief mare. She also won many titles in the show ring and is one of the top all time mares from Van Bert Farms. Fury's grandmother, Lilac, was also owned by Van Bert Farms and was a sweetheart to ride. |

In 2007, Fury gained a "new" trainer, HT Derickson. HT says that "Fury is one of the smartest horses I have ever ridden" and we all know that HT has ridden a few. Fury has become a versatile performer in conformation, trail classes, western classes, trail obstacle, pleasure driving, and equitation competitions. His 4 yr. old training was interrupted often, for breeding, as discerning mountain horse owners got a look at his first foals and began to imagine how he could complement their mares. Bred as a 3 yr. old, his 2007 foals are proving him to be a consistent producer of classic mountain horse characteristics: conformation, beauty, gait, and temperament. |
